About Croatia

Croatia is a small country situated in south eastern Europe and is both a continental and Mediterranean country. Together with its sea area, it covers 89,742 km2 (34,649 mile2) of the European territory. Even though it is a small state, it is a holder of the title of one of the most beautiful destinations in the world due to its pure sea, historical and cultural centers, remarkable beaches and friendly people.

The History of Croatia indicates that Croats first settled in this region within the 7th century. However, Croatia seemed to always be under the control of different regions. In 1991 Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia; this event led to a conflict between the two countries. In 1995 the war was ended with a resolution leading to Croatia finally gaining its desired liberation.

You will be amazed to find so much history, so much beauty and so many perfect holiday destinations in such a small country. If you prefer to explore, you can choose one of the 1185 islands of Croatia, many of the larger Islands are inhabited. Every island has its own unique history and attributes. If a secluded beach is what you prefer, why not opt for a secluded Island that's right your own Islands, well at least for the day, there are hundreds to choose from. Otherwise, if you prefer nature, then you can't go past Croatia's National Parks, Croatia has 8 national parks, and 10 nature
parks.
